The eastern shores of the Great Salt Lake define this landscape, where the salt marshes and wetlands of the Bear River delta meet the agricultural grid of Weber County. The transition from open water to inland drainage is marked by the Willard Bay Reservoir and a network of seasonal waterways including Second Salt Creek and Third Salt Creek. Rising above the surrounding flats, Little Mtn serves as a prominent natural landmark, also hosting the John C Fremont Monument, which commemorates early explorations of the Great Basin.
