The ancient Mesa-top villages of the Hopi Reservation are the central focus of this 2014 survey. Atop First Mesa, the closely grouped settlements of Walpi, Sichomovi, and Hano overlook the larger community of Polacca below the mesa's edge. To the west on Second Mesa, the map detail captures the clustered villages of Sipaulovi, Mishongnovi, and Toreva. This arrangement reflects centuries of habitation, where traditional village sites maintain their defensive and spiritual positioning high above the surrounding desert floor.
