Dahlia sits at the northern edge of this high-plains landscape where the borders of San Miguel, Guadalupe, and Torrance counties meet. The terrain is defined by a series of significant drainage systems and canyons, including Canon Blanco and Cañon de Padre in the north, and the extensive Potrillo Draw and Potrillo Cr running through the center. Rising above the southern flats is the prominent landmark of Potrillo Hill.
