Potters Ponds and the surrounding high desert plateau define this 2014 survey along the border of Wasco and Jefferson counties. The landscape is carved by a network of drainage systems, including the westward-flowing Mill Creek and the deeply incised Shitike Creek to the south. Broad, relatively level areas like Mill Creek Flat and Miller Flat suggest the open grazing or transition lands characteristic of this region.
