Towanda Creek carves a deep valley across this portion of Bradford County, separating the agricultural uplands of West Burlington and Burlington from the heavily wooded reaches of State Game Lands No 36. The 1969 survey captures the area's rural character, centered on the settlements of Powell, Franklindale, and Franklin Center. An Old Railroad Grade follows the northern bank of the creek, while to the south, the terrain rises sharply toward Naglee Mountain and Stone Mtn.
