About this map

Siskiyou Mountains and the complex drainage of the North Fork Smith River define this 1915 survey of the northern California borderlands. The landscape is dominated by heavy timber and steep ridges, where early infrastructure follows the water, including the Klamath River and the three forks of the Smith River. Human presence is largely confined to isolated stations and mountain flats, such as Patrick Creek Station and Humboldt Flat.
