Proctor sits at the southern edge of this West Kootenay landscape, positioned where Dayton Cr flows toward the larger valley floor. To the northwest, the terrain rises into the timbered slopes of the Flathead National Forest, defined by high peaks like Blacktail Mtn and Kerr Mtn. This area is characterized by its complex hydrology, where numerous smaller water bodies and meadows are tucked into the high country, including Basin Meadows, Grants Meadow, and Skags Lake.
