Hill Air Force Base land occupies the northeastern corner of this high-desert landscape in Tooele County. The terrain is defined by the stark isolation of Puddle Valley and the distinct formation of the Puddle Valley Knolls, which give the quadrangle its name. To the southeast, the elevation rises toward Skunk Ridge, where the local road network is limited to the utility-focused Frontage Rd. This 2011 survey illustrates a sparse environment primarily used for military purposes and ranching access, showcasing how federal land management and natural topography dictate the sparse human footprint in this part of the Great Basin.
