Pueblo Pintado sits at the eastern edge of a high-desert landscape defined by the intersection of deep history and modern ranching. This area is anchored by the northern reaches of Chaco Culture National Historical Park, where the Great House of the same name stands near the head of Chaco Canyon. The topography is dominated by the massive W Chaco Mesa and several drainage systems, including the Chaco Wash and the descriptive Burning Bridge Wash.
