To the southwest, the terrain transitions into the rugged eastern slopes of the Cibola National Forest, where drainage channels like Abo Arroyo and Arroyo de Manzano cut through the arid terrain. The southeastern corner of the map features the northern edge of Mountainair, near the Mountainair Cemetery. Numerous springs such as Three Springs and Cottonwood Spring are vital water sources in this dry environment, while several canyons, including Cañon Colorado and Canon Espinoso, define the local topography.
