Rattlesnake and the surrounding desert floor of the Navajo Nation are defined by a complex network of seasonal drainages and early infrastructure in this 2010 topographic record. The San Juan River cuts across the northern corner, providing the essential water source for the Cudei Ditch, an irrigation feature supporting the settlement of Cudei. Much of the landscape is dominated by the broad, braided paths of Shiprock Wash, Lichii Wash, and Little Shiprock Wash, which carry runoff from the Gray Hills toward the river valley.
