Wasatch National Forest dominates the southern landscape of this 2023 survey, which covers the high-altitude terrain where Utah meets Wyoming. The topography is defined by the complex drainage systems of Chalk Creek, including the East Fork and the Middle Fork East Fork, which carve through the steep elevation between Porcupine Ridge and the Red Hole basin. Transportation in this high country is limited to the E Chalk Creek Rd and rugged trails that follow the natural contours of the mountain forks. In the southeastern corner of the quadrangle, Joyce Lake and Mill Fork offer specific landmarks for researchers tracing the hydrological connectivity of the Uinta and Summit County line. The map serves as a contemporary record of this remote drainage basin before it crosses the state border into Wyoming.
