The transition from the rugged highlands of the Whitefish Range and Spencer Ridge in the north to the broad expanse of the Flathead Valley in the east creates a varied geography. A dense network of forest development roads, including Tally Lake Rd and Hanson Lake Rd, weaves through the western ridges, passing high-altitude landmarks such as Pilot Knob and Bald Rock.
