Rhodes and the surrounding Flathead Valley landscape are documented here in the mid-1990s, revealing a mix of agricultural settlement and managed wilderness. The Stillwater River meanders through the eastern portion of the sheet, adjacent to the Ray Kuhns Wildlife Management Area, while the western terrain rises sharply toward Pete Ridge and the Flathead National Forest. This geography created a distinct boundary between the valley floor's social centers and the high timberline.
