The Eleven Point River carves through the Ozark plateau in this 2015 study of Oregon County, where the Mark Twain National Forest preserves a landscape defined by its hydrogeology. At the heart of this area is the small settlement of Riverton, positioned near the confluence of several major creek systems including Piney Cr and Hurricane Cr. The topography is densely fractured by named hollows, many of which point to former local landmarks and early industry, such as Schoolhouse Hollow, Stillhouse Hollow, and Graveyard Hollow.
