Rock Harbor Lodge stands as the primary human touchpoint in this northeastern portion of Isle Royale National Park. The landscape is defined by the elongated, northeast-to-southwest ridges and valleys characteristic of the island, creating deep, protected water bodies like Tobin Harbor, Snug Harbor, and the expansive Duncan Bay. These finger-like harbors provide shelter from the open waters of Lake Superior, which surrounds the archipelago.
