Rodman Rim defines the central elevation of this high-desert landscape on the border of Deschutes and Crook Counties. The topography is shaped by seasonal drainage systems, most notably the winding course of the Dry River to the south and the northern flow of Bear Creek and Little Bear Creek. These intermittent waterways, along with Houston Reservoir Number One, suggest a landscape adapted for livestock and range management in an arid climate.
