About this map

The high plateau of the Oregon Cascades comes into sharp focus where the Klamath Co Lake Co line divides the landscape into two distinct federal domains. To the west, the Winema National Forest covers the terrain, while the Fremont National Forest spans the east. The land is defined by volcanic features like McCarty Butte, Dillon Butte, and the prominent Rodman Rock in the southeast. Numerous water sources sustain this high-altitude environment, including the isolated Antelope Lake and a series of named springs such as Bear Spring, Trapper Spring, and Coffeepot Spring. Vast grassy openings like Antelope Flat and McCarty Flat break the forest cover, providing clear evidence of the region's grazing history and seasonal drainage patterns along Bear Creek and Buck Creek.
