Rosalia and the surrounding rural landscape of eastern Butler County are defined by the complex drainage systems of the Little Walnut River. The N Br Little Walnut River and Middle Br Little Walnut River carve through the terrain, joined by numerous tributaries like De Haas Cr and Nicholas Cr. This network of waterways historically dictated the placement of small agricultural hubs such as Summit and Sallyards, the latter situated near the Greenwood County line.
