Rosewood sits at the southern edge of this landscape where the topography transitions from the high ridges into the northern Sacramento Valley. The terrain is defined by a dense network of drainages and named gulches that carve through the hills, most notably Middle Fork Cottonwood Cr and Big Crane Cr. These waterways create a complex series of ridges, including those surrounding Trueblood Gulch and Meadow Gulch.
