The Caprock Escarpment cuts sharply through Briscoe County, defining the landscape of the Texas Panhandle near the Ross Canyon formation. This 2016 survey highlights the dramatic transition from the high, flat plains into the deep incisions of the Canadian River drainage system. Prominent geologic features including Lufberg Canyon and McMurtry Canyon dominate the northern portion of the sheet, where seasonal drainage via Tule Cr and Coon Cr has carved the earth.
