Ross Ranch sits in the high desert of Eddy County, where the arid landscape is defined by the ephemeral drainage of Brushy Draw and Tucker Draw. In the southernmost portion of the map, the terrain gives way to the water of the Red Bluff Reservoir, a significant geographic feature on the border of New Mexico and Texas. The area is crisscrossed by a network of utility and access roads, including the prominent Pipeline Rd, which underscores the region's industrial infrastructure. Other local thoroughfares like Whitehorn Rd and Tarbrush Rd provide access through the scrubland, connecting the ranch to the surrounding cattle and oil country. This 2017 survey reflects the modern configuration of range lands and water management in the Pecos River basin before it crosses the state line.
