Sixteenmile Cr cuts through the northern reaches of this Gallatin County landscape, carving the prominent Sixteenmile Canyon along the border with Broadwater County. The terrain transitions from the high elevations of the Horseshoe Hills in the south toward the expansive Ellison Flat to the east. This 2017 survey reveals a network of named drainages and hollows, such as Roy Gulch, Poison Hollow, and Whiskey Gulch, which define the local topography.
