Ryan Peak and Kent Peak dominate the high-altitude topography of the Boulder Mountains in this section of central Idaho. The landscape serves as a significant hydrological divide, with headwaters flowing into three major drainages: the N Fork Big Wood River to the south, the N Fork Big Lost River to the east, and the E Fork Salmon River to the north. These watersheds define the boundary between the Sawtooth National Forest and Challis National Forest.
