Saint Thomas Gap forms a prominent geographic corridor in this corner of Clark County, defining the drainage patterns and transportation routes of the arid landscape. The area is defined by a network of seasonal watercourses, including the central Black Wash, Pussy Willow Wash, and Horse Spring Wash, which carve through the terrain. Human presence is marked primarily by small-scale mineral extraction and remote access routes. The Zarina Mine sits isolated in the center of the quadrangle, north of the intersection of Grand Gulch Rd and New Gold Butte Rd. To the west, Mud Wells and the headwaters of Mud Wash indicate a critical, if sparse, water source in this desert environment. This survey captures a moment when the region remained largely undeveloped, characterized by its traditional mining history and primitive road network.
