The Queets River and Salmon River dominate this coastal river valley landscape in western Washington, marking a significant transition between federal parklands and managed timber tracts. Much of the northern and eastern portions are situated within Olympic National Park, including the protected Queets Corridor, which follows the river's path through the forest. The terrain rises toward the Olympic Mountains in the northeast, where smaller drainages like Shale Cr and Hurst Cr feed the larger river system.
