The county line between Penobscot Co and Aroostook Co bisects this remote timber and wetland landscape in Northern Maine. Central to the geography is Salmon Stream Lake, a prominent water body fed and drained by the intricate network of Salmon Stream and its tributaries, including Little Salmon Stream and the Wadleigh Deadwater. The terrain is defined by low-lying wetlands and rising ridges that separate these various drainage basins.
