The San Cayetano Mountains dominate this high-desert landscape in Santa Cruz County, rising to the prominent San Cayetano Peak. This 2018 survey detail shows a complex network of canyons and gulches, including Alto Gulch and Josephine Canyon, which carve through the foothills of the Santa Rita Mountains. A portion of the Coronado National Forest occupies the northeastern corner, where the terrain reaches toward the heights of Mt Shibell.
