San Felipe Pueblo and the village of Algodones occupy a complex landscape defined by the traditional and modern water management systems of the Middle Rio Grande Valley. In this 2010 survey, the Rio Grande is flanked by an intricate network of irrigation and drainage infrastructure, including the San Felipe East Side Ditch, the Algodones Riverside Drain, and the Cochiti "East-Side" Main Canal. This engineering reflects centuries of agricultural adaptation in a desert environment, where water rights and access are paramount.
