Cape Lookout projects into the Pacific Ocean, anchoring a coastal landscape defined by shifting sands and tidal waters. Near the center of the sheet, the community of Sandlake sits inland from the complex estuary of Sand Lake, where Whalen Island and the Beltz Dike mark the intersection of natural hydrology and historical land management. To the south, the beachfront settlement of Tierra Del Mar lines the coast, while the northern reaches are dominated by the waters of Netarts Bay and its namesake Netarts Bay Campground.
