About this map

Mining operations and narrow canyons characterize this high-country terrain in the Saguache County mountains. Significant exploration is evident along Cochetopa Canyon, where the Mercury Mine, Mercury Alpine Mine, and Cochetopa Creek Mine are clustered near the waterway. Further north, specialized claims such as the Ridgeway Number Three Claim Mine and the Shurshot Claims Mine indicate the area's legacy of mineral prospecting.

Drainage systems define the movement through this landscape, with Cochetopa Creek and Willow Creek cutting through prominent terrain features like Sawtooth Mountain and Agency Peak. The map identifies several high-altitude parks, including Lick Park and Bead Park, alongside small-scale irrigation features such as the Smith Fork Ditch near Moss Lake. Local transport is facilitated by rural routes like County Rd 14 and County Rd 14PP.
