Gunnison National Forest dominates the high-altitude landscape of Saguache County, where the southern reaches of the Rockies define a complex network of drainages and peaks. The terrain is anchored by the prominent Sawtooth Mtn and Agency Peak, with the deep incision of Cochetopa Canyon providing a natural corridor through the eastern portion of the quadrangle. High alpine meadows or "parks," such as Lick Park, Muddy Park, and Bead Park, offer breaks in the timbered slopes, while named drainages like Muddy Cr and Rock Cr feed into the Cochetopa Creek system.
