Cibola National Forest encompasses much of this landscape, where the Manzano Mountains and Manzanita Mountains meet. The geography is defined by a series of deep canyons, including Tablazon Canyon, Gutierrez Canyon, and Sabino Canyon, which dictate the placement of local infrastructure and residential clusters. Small communities and named estates like Los Pinos and Dennis Chaves Estates are situated along the northern corridor, while higher elevations feature landmarks such as Cedro Peak.
