The western edge of Decatur County meets Rawlins County in this western Kansas landscape, where the headwaters of the Sappa Creek system carve a series of branching drainages through the high plains. The terrain is defined by the winding course of the N Fork Sappa Cr in the northwest and the more extensive network of the S Fork Sappa Cr, which meanders across the central and southern portions of the quadrangle.
