The high desert landscape of Carbon County is defined here by the waters of the North Platte River and the sweeping reach of the Seminoe Reservoir. In this 2015 survey, the interplay between water management and the arid terrain is evident as the reservoir pushes into the drainages of Hurt Cr and the larger river system. The topography is dominated by prominent uplifts like Cheyenne Ridge and ID Ridge, which divide the various seasonal drainages and draws that characterize this part of the Wyoming interior.
