The Seney area of Schoolcraft County is characterized by a complex hydraulic landscape of natural rivers and late-nineteenth-century engineering. The Fox River and its E Br Fox River meander through the northern portion of the sheet, feeding into an intricate series of wetlands and marsh pools labeled alphabetically from A Pool through J Pool. This heavy reliance on water management is further evidenced by Holland Ditch, Clarks Ditch, and Twomile Ditch, which crisscross the low-lying terrain to the south.
