Shale Butte dominates this high desert landscape in Lincoln County, where seasonal water sources and isolated infrastructure define the terrain. The 2010 survey records a sparse network of dirt roads and tracks, most notably Shale Butte Rd and Kimama Cave Rd, which provide access to this open range. Small, scattered water bodies such as Mustard Lake, Cottontail Lake, and Shale Butte Lake suggest the intermittent drainage patterns of the Snake River Plain.
