The Bears Paw Mountains rise across this section of north-central Montana, where the boundary between Hill and Blaine Counties follows the high ridges. The landscape is defined by a network of drainage systems including Bullhook Cr, Little Boxelder Cr, and Clear Cr, each carving distinct valleys into the upland. These natural features dictated the early transportation routes through the territory, as seen in the paths of Bullhook Rd SE and Sucker Creek Rd, which follow the contours of the terrain.
