Sharon and the surrounding rural communities of Hillman, Raytown, and Barnett characterize this section of Georgia's Piedmont. The landscape is defined by a dense network of family and community burial grounds, such as the Saggus - Lyle Cem and Greater Level Hill Cem, reflecting generations of settlement in Taliaferro, Wilkes, and Warren Counties. These sites are often positioned on the high ground between the numerous waterways that drain the region, including Kendrick Cr, Harden Cr, and Beaverdam Cr.
