Horse Cr and its tributaries define this pocket of the eastern plains along the boundary of Lincoln and Crowley counties. This 2013 survey illustrates the sparse, high-plains landscape where drainage patterns like Little Horse Cr, Steels Fork, and Pond Cr shape the geography of the land. The topography reveals significant local features such as Ninemile Flats and the descent into Welsh Canyon in the southwest corner. Human presence is marked by a rigid grid of rural corridors, including Co Road Ee and Co-71, which cut through the open range to connect remote homesteads and ranch lands. The namesake Sharp Lake sits near the eastern edge, one of the few standing water bodies in an area otherwise dominated by seasonal creek beds and expansive grazing territory.
