The Bighorn National Forest dominates this high-altitude landscape along the border of Sheridan and Big Horn Counties. The complex drainage network of Shell Creek and its many tributaries, including Moraine Creek and Adelaide Creek, defines the local topography. Significant alpine water bodies such as Shell Reservoir, Adelaide Lake, and Willett Lake serve as major landmarks in this high-country terrain. High points like Bruce Mountain and Dome Peak rise above the drainage basins, while Woodchuck Pass provides a notable transition through the peaks. Local travel routes are marked by Adelaide and Battle Creek Road, which provide access to the various lakes and hills, including Antelope Butte and Crooked Creek Hill in the western reaches of the quadrangle.
