Point Delgada and the community of Shelter Cove occupy a rare coastal shelf along the southern Humboldt County coastline, where the land rises sharply toward Queen Peak and Horse Mountain. This 2012 survey documents the residential street network of the cove, featuring thoroughfares such as Shelter Cove Rd and Humboldt Lp that provide access to this isolated enclave. The presence of the Shelter Cove Airport near the shoreline highlights the logistical importance of aviation in a region defined by steep terrain and few land routes.
