The Metolius River flows through this high-elevation region of Jefferson County, where the landscape is defined by volcanic prominences and a complex network of forest and tribal roads. High points such as Shitike Butte, Twin Buttes, and Middle Butte dominate the northern half of the quadrangle, while the southern terrain is marked by the distinctive Castle Rocks and Alder Spring Lookout. The area's hydrology is particularly dense, with numerous tributaries including Whitewater River, Rainy Creek, and Seekseequa Creek cutting through the plateaus.
