Shumway sits at the heart of the region, surrounded by several historically significant burial grounds including Shumway Cem, Saint Marys Catholic Cem, and the Blue Point Baptist Cem to the south. The terrain is marked by the winding paths of Wolf Creek, Morris Creek, and Blue Point Creek, which drain into the significant waters of Lake Sara in the southeast corner.
