Kobuk sits along the northern banks of the meandering Kobuk River, serving as a focal point for aviation and overland transport in this subarctic landscape. The settlement is supported by two distinct airstrips, the Kobuk Airport near the village and the Dahl Creek Airport situated further north along the Dahl Creek Road. This transport corridor tracks the valley of Dahl Cr, which flows south from the elevated terrain dominated by Inerevuk Mtn and Asbestos Mtn.
