Signal Mountain and the southern reaches of the Mojave Desert dominate this landscape in the western Arizona desert. The perennial course of the Big Sandy River winds through the western half of the quadrangle, serving as a primary drainage for the surrounding highlands. This area is characterized by a complex network of seasonal washes and springs, including Government Wash, Madrid Wash, and Greenwood Spring, which provide essential water sources in an otherwise arid environment.
