Soldier Camp Mtn serves as a central landmark in this portion of the Siskiyou National Forest, where the topography is defined by sharp ridges and deep river canyons. The Lower Rogue River flows through the southeastern sector, designated here as the Rogue Wild and Scenic River. This area is characterized by numerous small mountain prairies and flats that break up the timbered slopes, including Skookumhouse Prairie, Adams Prairie, and Steffin Meadow.
