The North Cascades National Park and Mount Baker National Forest meet in this high-altitude landscape of Skagit County. The terrain is defined by the headwaters of the Cascade River, including its N Fork Cascade River and S Fork Cascade River branches. Remote alpine water bodies such as Sonny Boy Lakes, Hidden Lake, and the descriptively named Long Gone Lake are tucked between steep ridges and peaks like Hidden Lake Peaks. Access to this wilderness is traced through a limited network of forest corridors, including Cascade River Rd and the Cascade Pass Trl which crosses near Saddle Point. The map provides an exacting look at the hydrology of the region, where numerous named tributaries like Sonny Boy Cr and Kindy Cr drain the high slopes of the Cascades.
