South Sister dominates this high-altitude landscape along the border of the Willamette National Forest and Deschutes National Forest. The 2020 terrain is defined by extreme glacial and volcanic features, including the Skinner Glacier, Lewis Glacier, and the high-elevation Teardrop Pool. These frozen features sit alongside evidence of relatively recent volcanic activity, such as the expansive Rock Mesa and the distinctive Leconte Crater.
