The Spangler Hills dominate the center of this terrain, marking the geological transition between the Indian Wells Valley and Searles Valley within the high Mojave Desert. This arid landscape is crisscrossed by a network of desert roads that reflect a history of mineral extraction and transit, notably Stevens Mine Rd and the Searles Station Cutoff. The topography is defined by the steep rises of the hills and the ephemeral drainage of Teagle Wash, which cuts across the southern portion of the quadrangle. Other routes such as Trona Rd and Randsburg Wash Rd connect these remote basins, which have long served as corridors for miners and surveyors navigating the challenging desert interior of San Bernardino County.
